PUTTING AMERICA TO WORK

Passing along project signs stating for the installation of fiber optic cable and a postive train control system at the station stop in Michigan City, Ind., Amtrak Wolverine train 350 continues on its journey east for its first Michigan station stop at Niles, March 12, 2010. The signs went up along Amtrak’s Michigan Corridor line in Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana over the winter season after the railroad learned that a $40 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act would be awarded to improve its track and signals for a possibly high-speed of 110mph. The grant money will also used for station projects in Battle Creek, Dearborn and Troy. (Photo by J.R. Valderas)
