Vandalism possible cause in Amtrak fire

From WOOD TV8

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – Amtrak officials confirm the fire aboard one car of a Grand Rapids bound train Thursday night was a result of a piece of metal found in the middle of the track.

Spokesman Marc Magliari tells 24 Hour News 8 the metal hit the bottom of the car, causing a small electrical fire.

Asked whether the metal was on the track accidentally or on purpose, Magliari told 24 Hour News 8 that’s a matter for investigators.

“Clearly, there’s a suspicion of vandalism,” says Magliari.
