MARP members meet in Battle Creek on Aug. 21

MARP Member Meeting

Meeting will begin at 11:00 am   ***note the later start time***

15551 South Airport Rd (just north of Columbia Ave West)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MEETING WILL BEGIN AT 11:00 AM in order to accommodate those who  take the train.

Shuttle service will be provided from that station to the meeting place.

The meeting will feature a presentation by Bruce Quinn about recent Operation Lifesaver activities in Michigan. There will also be information about the continuing series of public forums on the future or passenger and freight rail in Michigan being organized by MARP and the Michigan Environmental Council, the most recent of which featured a train ride from Cadillac to Traverse City facilitated by the Great Lakes Central Railroad. Plans will be finalized for MARP’s first ever meeting in the U.P. – we’ll help Indian Trails celebrate their 100th birthday on September 25! We’ll also talk about the upcoming NARP meeting in Grand Rapids which will feature a tour of West Michigan train stations and a ride on the Coopersville & Marne Railway.

 As always, the meeting will be followed by a no-host lunch at Clara’s on the River, formerly the Michigan Central depot, and filled with Battle Creek history.

 Shuttle service will be provided from the Amtrak Station to the meeting site and to Clara’s. If you are driving to Battle Creek and are willing to shuttle folks from the train station, please reply to this email.

 The conference room in which we are meeting is located at 15551 South Airport Rd. This is near the SW corner of the airport, just north of Columbia Ave West and east of MI-37. The building is to the west of the large industrial buildings that house Duncan Aviation.
