Our keynote speaker will be Bob Johnston, well-known to us from the pages of Trains Magazine. He will have a sneak preview of a feature article he’s working on about Ontario Northland and remote Canadian services in Ontario. We have invited Tim Hoeffner, fellow MARP member who also happens to head MDOT’s Office of Rail, to give us an update on the exciting developments along the Detroit-Chicago enhanced speed rail corridor. Ron DeCook, a rail policy consultant, will have updates on the Amtrak Fleet Strategy (version 2) and on the Chicago Union Station Master Plan Study – Final Report . We have invited Joseph C. Szabo, FRA Administrator, but realize that his busy schedule may not allow him to attend.
